The White Bicycles is a local charity providing a bicycle rental service for hotels and tourists in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Proceeds from the rental service goes directly to provide  funding water and educational projects in the rural area of Siem Reap.

The White Bicycles provides hotels with rental bicycles, marketing material and conduct regular service and maintenance of the bikes. Hotels are encouraged to promote the bicycles as a sustainable way of transportation for guests, to clean and prepare the bicycles, as well as to promote the supported projects.

The Bicycles cost $2 per day to rent. $1.5 goes directly to charity, while $0.5 is used for service and maintenance.

 

Background:
The White Bicycles is an educational initiative aiming to promote and educate local organisations to favour sustainable ways to conduct fundraising and develop their organisations.

The White Bicycle Project provides:  

·          Micro funding for local organisations and projects

·          Training in basic organisation and business development

·          Volunteer workers

·          Education and information about sustainable tourism and awareness

·          Jobs, job training and education for local youth (including student sponsorships)

 

 

The White Bicycle Project is financed and monitored by NEDO, The Norwegian Educational Development Organisation.
