THE WHITE BICYCLES IN ACTION: THE SARATH VIN'S STORY

Sarath Vin, when he was 16, cycled 20 kilometers from Samrong, a rural village, to Siem Reap six times a week to attend high school. In January 2007, he joined The White Bicycles on a work for school program. He maintained bicycles for about 12 hours per week. The work for school program provided him with a fair salary and a scholarship at high school as well as ACE (The Australian Center of Education). Sarath stayed in this program for three years until he finished high school. Upon graduation from high school, he earned a University scholarship from NEDO, the Norwegian Educational Development Organisation and a Phnom Penh IT University. In 2011 he graduated from the University with an Associate degree. He has been working as a networking technician at an ISP company in Phnom Penh. In July 2013 he decided to go back to school to complete his Bachelor degree while keeping his current job.
